Have a Question?
You’re probably not the first! Here are answers to some of the questions I’m asked most often. If you don’t see your question here, I’d be happy to answer it during your Meet & Greet or by email.
Caring for Your Pets
The Meet & Greet is a relaxed, complimentary visit that takes place in your home before your first booking. It’s an opportunity for us to get to know one another, make sure we’re a good fit, and ensure I have everything I need to provide the best possible care for your pets.
During our visit, we’ll talk about your pets’ personalities, daily routines, feeding routines, exercise needs, medications (if applicable), and any other important details you’d like me to know. I’ll also walk through my Meet & Greet checklist to make sure nothing is overlooked.
You’ll have the chance to show me around your home, including where pet supplies are kept, sleeping arrangements, outdoor areas (if applicable), and anything else that will help me care for your pets confidently while you’re away. We’ll also review emergency contacts, veterinary information, and any household details I should know before your trip.
The goal is simple: when your travel day arrives, you can leave knowing we’ve already covered the details, and your pets can continue enjoying the routines they’re familiar with.
Most Meet & Greets take approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on the number of pets and any special care needs.
Every household has its own routines, and my goal is to maintain the routines your pets are already familiar with. If your pet normally sleeps in the bedroom or on the bed with you, I’m happy to continue that routine whenever possible. Keeping familiar routines helps many pets feel secure and comfortable while you’re away.
Absolutely. Senior pets hold a special place in my heart, and I’m happy to care for them when their needs are a good fit for my services.
As pets grow older, their routines often become even more important. They may move a little slower, require medication, need more frequent bathroom breaks, or simply appreciate a quieter, more predictable environment. Because I stay in your home and spend most of my day there, I’m able to provide the consistent companionship, patience, and observation that many senior pets benefit from.
I understand that senior pets can sometimes show subtle changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, or energy level. Taking the time to notice those small changes—and keeping you informed if I have any concerns—is an important part of the care I provide.
If your senior pet has medical needs or requires medication, we’ll discuss everything during the Meet & Greet to make sure I’m comfortable with their care routine and that we’re both confident it’s the right fit.
My goal is to help your senior pet feel safe, comfortable, and as relaxed as possible by maintaining the familiar routines they know and trust while you’re away.
Yes! Puppies are full of curiosity, energy, and personality, and I’m happy to care for them when their needs are a good fit for my services.
Young dogs often require more frequent potty breaks, closer supervision, continuing the routines they’re already learning, and plenty of mental and physical stimulation throughout the day. Because I work remotely and stay in your home, I’m able to spend most of my time with your puppy, helping maintain the routines and consistency they’re already learning.
Every puppy is different, so we’ll discuss their age, daily schedule, training progress, exercise needs, and any special instructions during the Meet & Greet. My goal is to follow the routines you’ve already established, helping your puppy feel safe, confident, and secure while you’re away.
Because puppies often require significantly more time and attention than adult dogs, an additional puppy rate may apply. This helps ensure I can provide the level of individualized care and supervision that young dogs need during this important stage of their development.
Yes. Roll Tails cares for both spayed/neutered and intact pets. During the Meet & Greet, we’ll discuss your pet’s routine, behaviour, and any additional care they may require so I can determine whether the booking is a good fit.
Yes—medication administration is available on a case-by-case basis.
During our Meet & Greet, we’ll discuss your pet’s medication routine, including how it is administered, the schedule, and any special instructions. This allows me to determine whether I can safely and confidently provide the care your pet requires.
My priority is always your pet’s health and well-being. If I don’t feel I can administer a particular medication safely or without causing unnecessary stress to your pet, I’ll be honest with you so you can make the best decision for their care.
If medication administration is required, I encourage clients to provide clear written instructions and demonstrate the routine during the Meet & Greet whenever possible.
Routine medication that can be safely and comfortably administered as part of your pet’s normal care is included in your booking at no additional charge.
If I notice that your pet isn’t acting like themselves, my first priority is to carefully assess the situation without causing unnecessary stress to your pet. Because I spend most of my day with your pets, I’m often able to notice changes in behavior, appetite, energy level, or routine that might otherwise go unnoticed.
As soon as I have concerns about your pet’s health, I’ll contact you to explain what I’ve observed and discuss the next steps. Whenever possible, I believe important decisions about your pet’s care should be made together.
If your pet requires immediate veterinary attention and I cannot reach you or your emergency contact in time, I will seek veterinary care based on the emergency authorization you provided before your booking. Your pet’s health and safety will always come first.
Throughout the situation, I’ll keep the lines of communication open and provide updates so you know exactly what’s happening. My goal is to make thoughtful decisions, act in your pet’s best interest, and ensure you never feel left wondering what’s going on.
While emergencies are uncommon, being prepared is an important part of every Roll Tails booking. During our Meet & Greet, we’ll review your emergency contacts, veterinarian information, and any household procedures that may be important while you’re away. That way, if something unexpected does occur, I’ll already have the information I need to respond appropriately.
If your pet becomes ill or is injured, I’ll first attempt to contact you. If you’re unavailable and immediate veterinary care is needed, I’ll follow the emergency instructions you’ve provided and seek the appropriate care for your pet. I’ll also keep you informed throughout the situation whenever possible.
If a household emergency occurs—such as a power outage, severe weather, or another unexpected event—I’ll follow the emergency plan we discussed during the Meet & Greet and take reasonable steps to protect your pets, your home, and everyone’s safety.
No matter the situation, my priority is to remain calm, act responsibly, and keep the lines of communication open until the situation has been resolved.
Keeping you connected while you’re away is an important part of every Roll Tails booking. During your booking, you’ll receive a thoughtful update each day, along with photos, at the time you selected during your client onboarding (morning or evening).
Many clients tell me they enjoy relaxing and looking forward to their daily update, knowing they’ll hear how their pets are doing each day without needing to wonder.
Each update is designed to give you a meaningful overview of your pet’s day, including how they’re doing, any highlights from the day, and reassurance that everything is going well.
If something unexpected arises or I have a question about your pet’s care, I’ll contact you right away. Likewise, you’re always welcome to reach out if you have a question while you’re away.
My goal is to provide regular communication while also spending the majority of my time where it matters most—with your pets.
Yes. Overnight pet sitting means I stay in your home throughout the night, providing companionship and maintaining your pets’ normal routines. Short outings for personal errands, meals, or grocery shopping may occur during the day, but your pets will never be left alone for extended periods unless discussed in advance.
Yes—by request and on a case-by-case basis.
While Roll Tails specializes in overnight, in-home pet sitting, I also offer In-Home Companion Care for pets who would benefit from having someone stay with them during the day.
This service is ideal for pets recovering from surgery, senior pets, puppies, or any pet that simply shouldn’t be left alone for extended periods. It’s also a wonderful option for pet owners who have full-day medical appointments, family events, or other commitments that require them to be away from home for most of the day.
Companion Care provides up to 10 hours of care (typically between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.) and focuses on maintaining your pet’s normal routine through companionship, supervision, feeding, walks, medication (if needed), and plenty of one-on-one attention.
Because every pet and situation is different, Companion Care is offered by request and subject to availability. We’ll discuss your pet’s routine and determine whether it’s the right fit during your Meet & Greet.
At this time, Roll Tails specializes exclusively in overnight, in-home pet sitting.
Rather than dividing my schedule between dog walks, drop-in visits, daycare, and overnight stays, I’ve chosen to focus on one service and do it exceptionally well. This allows me to provide your pets with consistent companionship, maintain their routines, and spend the majority of my day and evening in the comfort of their own home.
As Roll Tails grows, I may expand my services in the future. For now, my focus remains on providing thoughtful, dependable overnight care for families who want their pets to remain where they’re happiest—at home.
If you’re unsure whether your travel plans are a good fit for my services, I’m always happy to answer your questions.
Your Home & Booking Information
During overnight bookings, I ask that a comfortable, clean sleeping space with fresh bedding be provided. This allows me to remain in your home overnight so your pets can maintain their normal routines and enjoy the comfort of having someone present throughout the night.
No. I’ll bring my own food and personal items for the duration of the booking. Clients are welcome to offer the use of kitchen facilities, basic cooking essentials, and condiments, but providing meals or groceries is never expected. Please ensure there is adequate space available in the refrigerator and, when possible, a small amount of pantry space for food brought during longer bookings.
Before your trip, I’ll ask you to make sure your pets have everything they’ll need during my stay, including enough food, medication, treats, litter, waste bags, cleaning supplies, leashes, harnesses, and any other daily essentials.
A clean sleeping area with fresh bedding and access to a clean bathroom are also appreciated, as they’ll allow me to comfortably stay in your home and focus on caring for your pets.
Before you leave, I recommend leaving a simple written reminder of your pets’ routines, feeding instructions, medication schedule, and any last-minute notes. Even after a thorough Meet & Greet, having everything written down provides an extra layer of reassurance and helps ensure nothing is overlooked.
If your pets seem anxious, excited, or unusually quiet when you leave, letting me know is always helpful. Knowing how they’re feeling at the start of the booking allows me to better understand their behavior and provide the thoughtful care they’re used to.
Before you leave, please ensure your home is prepared for the season and that your pets’ normal environment can be maintained as closely as possible to their usual routine. Whether that’s using air conditioning, fans, or heat, I recommend leaving your home as you normally would if you were there. Keeping your pets comfortable in familiar surroundings helps reduce stress and supports the routines they’re accustomed to.
With a little preparation before you leave, I can focus on what matters most: keeping your pets happy, their routines consistent, and your home well cared for until you return.
I understand that travel plans can sometimes change unexpectedly. If you need to modify your booking before it begins, please let me know as soon as possible. Depending on the timing of the change, my cancellation or booking policies may apply.
If your travel plans are extended while you’re away, I’ll do my best to continue caring for your pets, provided I’m available and no other bookings are affected.
If you return home earlier than planned, simply let me know. Because I reserve those dates exclusively for your booking, refunds are not provided for unused days when a stay ends early.
The most important thing is communication. Keeping me informed of any changes allows me to adjust plans whenever possible and continue providing the best care for your pets.
Whenever possible, I recommend booking in advance, especially for new clients. Every first-time booking requires a Meet & Greet so we can get to know one another, discuss your pet’s routines, and make sure we’re the right fit before your trip.
If you’re an existing client and I’m available, I’m happy to consider last-minute bookings whenever my schedule allows. Since we’ve already completed a Meet & Greet and I know your pets, the booking process is often much quicker and easier.
I understand that unexpected travel plans and emergencies can happen. If you need care on short notice, please don’t hesitate to reach out. If I’m available and feel I can provide the level of care your pets deserve, I’ll do my best to help.
My priority is never simply filling my calendar—it’s making sure every booking receives the thoughtful preparation and attention that both you and your pets deserve.
Absolutely! If you’ve moved within or near my service area, I’d be happy to continue caring for your pets whenever possible.
Because every home is different, I’ll arrange a shorter Meet & Greet before your next booking. This gives us an opportunity to walk through your new home, review any changes to your pets’ routines, and make sure I know where everything is located. Since I’ll already know your pets, the visit is usually much shorter than an initial Meet & Greet.
Every move is different, but my goal remains the same—to help your pets feel comfortable by keeping their routines as familiar as possible, even in a new home.
Roll Tails proudly provides overnight, in-home pet sitting throughout Parry Sound and the surrounding area, including communities such as Nobel, Carling, McDougall, Hurdville, Waubamik, McKellar, Orrville, Humphrey, Foley, and Seguin.
If you live outside my standard service area, I’d still love to hear from you. Depending on your location, travel time, my availability, and the details of your booking, I may be able to accommodate your request with a personalized quote.
This includes communities such as Dunchurch, Rosseau, the Gordon Bay area, and other nearby locations. If you’re unsure whether you’re within my service area, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to discuss your booking and see if Roll Tails is the right fit for your family.
Yes. Roll Tails carries pet sitting insurance for added peace of mind. While I always hope it never needs to be used, having insurance is part of my commitment to operating a professional, responsible business.
Insurance is just one part of how I operate my business. Thoughtful preparation, clear communication, and careful attention to your pets and home are equally important in providing safe, reliable care.
